The exciting son of High Chaparral had a less than perfect preparation during the spring and endured a torrid run in the 2013 Cox Plate when he finished 5.8 lengths off the pace.

Prior to that run the four-year-old entire claimed the scalp of Australia’s darling of the turf, Atlantic Jewel, when he outgunned her over the final stages for the narrowest win in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m).

Reigning Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente is second favourite at $10 and after his slashing third in the 2013 Cox Plate from the awkward barrier 14 he looks great value.

Thousand Guineas (1600m) winner Guelph is $11 but will be under the guidance of a new trainer when Peter Snowden departs the powerful Darley operation.
